lytton finalIn the aftermath of the Oregon college shooting, experts discussed gun control efforts on an interview on NBC: “Experts Stymied by Mass Shootings.” Prof. Timothy Lytton stated that there is a debate in the academic literature as to whether additional gun control laws have reduced shootings.  He went on to say that, aside from legislative proposals for more gun control, we can expect to see an increase school security drills so that students, faculty and security staff know how to respond in the event of an active shooter.

Timothy D. Lytton is a Distinguished University Professor and Professor of Law at Georgia State University College of Law with expertise in the public policy implications of tort litigation. He is the editor of Suing the Gun Industry: A Battle at the Crossroads of Gun Control and Mass Torts (2005).
