The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld New York and Connecticut laws that banned semiautomatic weapons. The bans were implemented in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School 2012 shooting. Professor Lytton recently did an interview with Radio Sputnik World Service (Moscow) reacting to the case, stating that “the ruling takes a large step in the direction of clarifying the United States Supreme Court’s decision regarding the scope of the 2nd amendments limits on gun control legislation.”
Timothy D. Lytton is a Distinguished University Professor and Professor of Law at Georgia State University College of Law with expertise in the public policy implications of tort litigation. He is the editor of Suing the Gun Industry: A Battle at the Crossroads of Gun Control and Mass Torts (2005).
